  • Sometimes A Hole Is A Chute
  • I have always loved the good Dr. and like most graduates I too received “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” upon my exit from high school. I loved the story. Even then the whimsical structures, winding paths and archways where making their way into my sub-conscious. Many years later they reappeared feeding my own inner and outer journeys with a visual vocabulary to call my own.
  • Add to your collection. This peice began as a group activity during a Art + Aperitif showing at Charlotte’s Evoke restaurant. I invited vistors to the show to leave their mark. For some it was their first time ever doing something creative on the iPad. Afterwards I constructed a grauel village on their foundation allowing the groups color choices, line quality, and shape to influence my own.
  • Chagall’s “I In The Village{quote} has always been one of my favorite paintings. I love his title word play on “I{quote} and the overwhelming “eye{quote} contact depicted. I know his humble village representation has influenced my own visual constructions over time. The large profiles are such a dominate aspect of the original composition. In my skew I push them to be even more woven into the landscape, to the point that the ewe has totally transformed into architecture. Chagall's rich palette of complementaries laid the foundation for my own village scene.

  • Entreat Not Retreat
  • This painting was created for January's juried show at Ciel Gallery - Animal Planet. I wanted to push my villages in a slightly different direction by allowing the influence of the abundance of animal life that surrounds me. And it is also fun to pay homage to my pets. The painting not only was selected, but received an Honorable Mention in the show.
